Chemical Handling & Spill Response

This procedure covers safe handling, storage and disposal of hazardous chemicals including receiving, inventory, use and emergency response. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) must be reviewed before handling any chemical product. Required PPE must be worn as specified on the SDS. Chemicals must never be transferred to unlabeled containers. Incompatible chemicals must be stored separately per compatibility charts. Spill kits must be available and workers trained on their use. WHMIS/GHS pictogram identification required. Secondary containment required for bulk chemical storage. Ventilation required when using volatile chemicals. Emergency eyewash and shower must be within 10 seconds of chemical use areas. Based on OSHA 1910.1200 and WHMIS 2015.

Scope and Purpose

Training Requirements
